Hey! Indian reader here again, I'm glad you're having a great time here!!
I remember going to Agra on a trip a couple years back. Taj Mehl was amazing to see. And the history behind it is quite interesting. It was supposed to be a gift from the King of Agra to his queen though I don't remember much of the history. One part I do remember (though it's very gruesome yet romantic in a weird way) is that the king ordered that the hands of all the artisans and anyone who worked on the site would be cut off so that they wouldn't be able to create something like the palace again 😭
One tip I have is that you make sure you're not overpaying for the stuff you buy here, considering people WILL overcharge you when they realize you're a tourist. And to wear clothing which covers you up in public because short clothes are usually looked down upon here and for your own safety too depending on where you are 💔
Other than that I also recommend buying spices to take back with you if you're into spicy food!! Indian spices are extremely flavorful and vast in variety but quite expensive in other countries
Hey!! I just got back! It was an amazing trip! Your country is so beautiful. The air quality in some cities was tearing my allergies up but other than that and trying to cross the street when there isnt a traffic light in sight, I had such a great time! I never thought I could be a vegetarian but so much good non meat curries and other options there. I liked Indian food before going but loved all the new dishes I tried too! Although I don't think I will ever find a Dal Makhani or Chana Masala as good as I did at The 1944 Hocco Kitchen in Ahmedabad here in the states. I didn't even like the Dal I had on the trip up until that point it was so rich, smooth and buttery (they cooked theirs for 36hrs). Also getting to try traditional Gujarati cuisine was awesome!
The Dhokla was so good with the chutneys they'd give us as snacks. Plus I thought Japan had the best service, India takes it to a new level! I never been to restaurants where waiters are literally sprinting to your table to make sure you dont serve yourself. I only wanted a bit more curry once but I felt so bad this waiter almost tripped rushing over to me I let him put on two more scoops! Also feels like I'm back home and my grandma is making my plates cause if they see a dish nearly done and that you finished yours they will just scoop the rest into your plate. Even the fast food places (omg the paneer burger and aloo tiki burger at mcdonalds and butter chicken chalupa at taco bell were to DIE for) were far superior to what we have here and they have much more sustainable practices. I swear I gained 5lbs from all the food lmfao!! I'm used to eating either one meal or two small ones a day and my program was feeding us 3 full meals so I had to skip some at times LOL it was too much food!!
The traffic is WILD in India but its so cool to see. I don't think I would ever get used to crossing the street without feeling like I was gonna die though lmfaooo. Also omg being able to Uber a Tuk Tuk was awesome! Although there was a few times me and my friends thought we would see the pearly gates lmfaoooo. I heard that about the Taj artisans too! The tour guide we had was so knowledgable (he was a former pharmacist who went back to school to learn medival indian history as he wanted to be a tour guide instead). He told us it was because after his favored wife died (I think he said it was because she was the only one to give him children successfully) he lost his mind a bit and was locked away by one of his sons after building the Taj (Very sad too as all his sons fought and all but one survived to take over the throne). Oh yes, haha our tour consultant who travelled with us the entire time would haggle for us if we wanted something. He would actually give us a range then tell us to walk down the block then he would start haggling lol. Loved him so much, he really looked out for us!
But omg yeah I noticed that people dress pretty modestly which is wild to me considering how hot it is there but they are used to it but I was dying haha. It was 100 degrees and people were in jackets and jean pants lol. Thankfully I brought long cotton and linen dresses and skirts and was able to buy some flowly loose linen pants and brought lots of electrolyte packets. But even in the hotel (we stayed at the 5 star Hyatt Regency in Ahemedabad) that was pretty internationally catered (omg the best pasta outside of italy I swear I was so surprised haha) there were Indian men intensely staring at me and my friend wearing tight leggings to breakfast even though they came down to our ankles and we had a long sleeve shirt on too. I got on the elevator to run back up to my room for something I forgot and these guys on the elevator were so creepy. They didnt say anything but I could feel them glaring down my back. I'm glad we knew better than to wear them outside but I thought it be okay just in the hotel. That didn't sour my experience though I did meet a lot of very nice and respectful Indian men as well. Two of them (who were pretty cute tbh) helped me with my luggage on the elevator as I was leaving since I had to buy an entire new luggage for all the stuff I bought lol. Yes!! While in Delhi we went to the spice market. We took a cycle rickshaw there. We went to a tourist spice shop there though cause they seal it up well for travel and actually have premixed spice packets you can buy which makes it easier (although im sure much more expensive). I bought a ton of spices and teas haha spent like 20k rupees there lmfaooo. Mostly went so ham there cause my mom used to live in India (her 3rd husband was Indian) and she wanted me to bring her back alot of teas and spices. I got her like 4 different kinds of chai. I'm kinda sad we left right before Holi!!!! I always wanted to experience Holi!!! But since its today (or yesterday lol) and today is the first day of classes back our school had to make sure we were back for classes.
Here’s some more pics!
#lovely anon#thanks so much for asking about my trip! I can’t wait to go back!#want to go to Mumbai#also Bangalore and Goa!

Road Trip (Rafe,Kelce,Topper X Reader)
Takes Place before The Best Boys
Arguing over who gets to play music
Merging all your playlists together and putting it on shuffle. That means going from the Moana soundtrack to Good Girls Bad Guys real quick
The ending location is Kelce’s lake house in Maine
Swapping spots in the car at every stop (Mostly stops demanded by Topper who just wants a slushie from every state)
Rafe driving when you guys first take off, letting you hold his hand
After the third snack stop you sawp to sit in the back with Topper,Kelce going into the passengers seat. You and Topper would watch Finding Nemo together and you werent wearing your seatbelt, leaning against him.
You used your polaroid camera so often, snapping pictures of Kelce whenever you could, even getting some of Rafe driving.
“OOH!MCDONALDS!PLEASE!”Kelce shouted over the music,Rafe glancing at you through the mirror, asking you silently. “Dont look at me!Get the poor boy some McDonalds!”You exclaimed,Kelce fistbumping you as Rafe pulled up to the McDonalds, not quite at the microphone. “Okay,we’re about to go throught the drive thru.Does everyone know what they want?”He asked, sick of Topper never knowing what he was doing. The three of you nodded, the boys ordering cheeseburgers, large fries,McFlurries and a yogurt parfait to “stay fit”.Rafe looked over to you, asking what you wanted. “Just a caramel iced coffee and a happy meal please.”You smiled, still having food from the gas stations.
Kelce was only allowed to drive during daytime because he has terrible eyesight
“Fuck-they forgot my happy meal toy!”You exclaimed, disappointed. The second Rafe saw another McDonalds he pulled up to the drive thu, asking for a cheeseburger happy meal, checking it for a toy after the worker handed it to him, letting out a relieved sigh. “Thats a good one, too. It looks like a Marvel person.”He handed it back to you.
At four in the morning the four of you were looking for a hotel to stay the night in,Topper driving this time around.Rafe noticed you go pretty much limp in his arms, your phone slowly falling from your hands and onto your stomach. He grinned, whispering to Topper and Kelce to turn down the music.
When they finally did find a hotel you guys were somewhere in Pennsylvania, getting a room with two beds and a pull out couch.
You were pretty tired, falling asleep on one of the beds immediately while the boys went to the vending machines,Kelce looking for something other than an energy drink for you to take your vitamins with.He had come back with an apple juice, grabbing your pills from the backpack you chose to bring inside, waking you up. “Hey,princess. You gotta take your vitamins then you can go to sleep.”He grinned, placing your pills into your palm, opening the bottle of apple juice.
Rafe was too tall for the beds, ending up on the pull out couch while old Mickey Mouse cartoons played on the tv.
You were clinging to Kelce when you woke up.He was scrolling through his phone, his arm at a strange angle so he wouldnt accidentally hit you. “Morning.”He grinned, setting his phone down, moving his other arm so you could sit up. You rubbed your eyes, yawning. The shower was running and Kelce had told you that Topper went to go get coffee. At some point you had fallen back asleep, face pressed into the cold pillow when an iced coffee was placed on the table next to you.You heard the shower turn off,Rafe emerging with a towel around his waist, hunting for his backpack. You blinked a few times, thinking that he was naked for a second. “Can we stay here for the day?Im tired of being in the truck.”You grumbled, reaching for the coffee and stirring the sugar and caramel syrup that was stuck at the bottom.Topper nodded in agreement, glad to finally stretch out his legs. “Yeah, yeah okay.”Rafe nodded, sitting on the pull out, watching the tv,glancing to you and Kelce every once in a while. He heard his phone ring, heart dropping when he saw that it was Ward. “I’ll be right back.”He told you guys, accepting the call.He paced up and down the hall as Ward demanded to know where he was. “I told you for the past three weeks I was going on a trip with (Y/N) and the boys.”He answered, biting his lip. “I dont remember that.”Ward grumbled. “Its cause you dont listen to me.”Rafe answered, hanging up and turning off his ringer, huffing as he leaned his head against the wall. You came out shortly after, sweatpants and Kelce’s baggy shirt on your body. “Hey,you okay?”You asked. He nodded, sniffling. You didnt say anything else, hugging him.His arms were tight around you, kissing your forehead, eyes closing as he calmed down. “He’s so bitchy.”Rafe whispered, voice shaky. You nodded, pressing a kiss to his collarbone. “I know,I know he is.But this is a fun little trip we’re having, right?”You asked, looking up at him.He nodded, his smile slowly coming back. “Right,so lets enjoy it.Lets go eat shit and watch stupid movies,i’ll even let you pick the movie.Even though its my turn-dont forget its my turn next time.”You grinned, tapping the tip of his nose.He chuckled, letting you drag him into the hotel room, sitting next to him on the bed.Topper had taken your polaroid camera from your bag, waiting for a good time to take a photo.Your arms were around Rafe, his head under your chin as he scrolled through the movies. “Isnt it (Y/N)’s turn to pick the movie?”Topper asked. You shrugged, not wanting to go into details.Rafe eventually picked a movie called ‘Shark Night’,a grin on his face knowing it would probably disturb you.You were on your phone most of the movie,a smile on your face as Rafe moved his face up so he could take a photo with you on snapchat, blue butterflies on his cheeks. You were oblivious to the fact of Topper taking a polaroid photo. It didnt matter how much it hurt him to see you and Rafe cuddling like a cute couple, you looked happy. He wanted to capture your genuine happiness in a photo, keeping the polaroid for himself.
Rafe had managed to stay clean for a bit of the trip, eventually doing a line in the hotel bathroom, pinching his nostrils so he wouldnt get a nose bleed.
Topper had went to go get you some fruit at a nearby grocery store, figuring that you’d be more comfortable eating something healthy.
He was right, watfching your happiness increase, loosening up as you ate a bowl of cherries and grapes. The second night at the hotel you slept next to-on top-of Topper, your arms around his shoulders and legs around his waist.
The morning of the third day you guys got back in the truck, enjoying The Descendants soundtrack, stopping at a beach to watch the sunset and have a small fire.
New york was a crazy experience, the place too crowded for you to really enjoy yourself. The four of you stayed at an apartment that Topper’s mother owned because of course she had to own a random apartment in the middle of New York. You showered at the apartment, the place so cold that you had to take Topper’s long sleeve shirt from him, shivering against him.
Thats when you chose to watch Z Nation, accidentally catching feelings for 10k.You had also gotten some of the best polaroids of Topper and Kelce, including two of Kelce eating a cookie the size of his head.In the first he was biting into it,the second he was glaring at the camera, realizing you had caught him.You also got a polaroid of Topper doing meditation, headphones on and sitting on the floor. The polaroids from that trip stayed in your mini backpack and away from the others just incase the boys ever wanted to look through your polaroid stacks.
The boys also got plenty of photos of you on their snapchat and around one hundred in their camerarolls if they were all put together.
Once you guys finally got to the lake house it was nothing but laughs, camp fires, kayaking and dancing around
You and Topper decided to bake a ton of sugar cookies and frost flowers and waves on them, most of it just looking like melted blobs of color but it was still fun to do.
Sitting on the large couch and binge watching disney princess films as you all ate the sugar cookies
“We love a bisexual bitch.”Kelce grinned at the television. You guys were currently watching Mulan, one of Kelce’s favorites. “He really puts the bi in bitch.”You agreed.
Campfires were fun, roasting marshmallows.Rafe being the dumb bitch he is burnt all of his, eating one that had ashes on it,gagging.
You and Rafe went kayaking in the lake but you were paranoid as hell from the movie you guys had watched, wanting to turn around when you guys got to the deeper part of the lake.He had laughed at you, agreeing. You guys decided to just sit on the sand, his hand on your thigh as you sighed, looking out at the clouds.
You guys stayed at the lake house for around ten days, not wanting to leave the cozy place. “We should move here.Like, can you imagine all of us living together? That would all be fucking chaos.”You laughed, eyes closed as you laid on your back with a pillow under your head.Topper blushed, glancing outside one of the windows. “I feel like it’d be fun.”Kelce shrugged, flipping through the channels.
You and the boys had driven into town to the tourist shops, laughing about how you probably looked the same as the tourons in obx.You got a sweatshirt with the location on it along with a t shirt and a mug,a grin on your face when you saw Kelce looking at t shirts, figuring it would most likely end up on you more than it was on him.
The mornings were really fun,the air was cold and you could see your breath, the four of you drinking hot coffee outside and enjoying the sight of the water and the beautiful green trees.
Kelce had taken photos of plenty of leaves, claiming that they were ‘the chosen ones’
You guys found a farm stand, going and trying a ton of new things including a bottle of home made strawberry milk and dunking the leftover sugar cookies in it.
You guys even went to see a huge waterfall,Rafe doing a secret photo shoot of both the trees, the waterfall and you.
You found a really cool rock that was both shiny and green, giving it to Topper for his rock collection that only you knew about.
The drive back to North Carolina was kind of sad, missing the vibes of the house in the woods. You all decided to go back to your house and have a sleepover, not wanting to drive anymore than necessary.
“Can we get taco bell?”Kelce asked, half asleep against the window. “Bruh,I cant even think about food right now ill throw the fuck up.”You mumbled, reaching for his hand.It felt cold which was nice because you felt really warm for some reason, dragging him across the leather seat, enjoying how cold he was. “What are you doing?”He asked, not fighting it. “You feel cold.”You mumbled, clinging onto him.Rafe frowned, asking if you wanted him to turn the AC on higher. You nodded, enjoying the blasts of cool air.Luckily Kelce got his taco bell, eating only half of it before falling asleep. You felt the car pull into a gas station,Topper and Rafe swapping spots so Topper would be the one driving and pumping gas into the truck. “We’re almost there guys.”Topper told you and Kelce, the radio playing Billie Eilish quietly. When the truck stopped again you guys were at a motel, not far from the docks where you’d have to catch a ferry in the morning.Topper just carried you in,letting you sleep against him on the bed, only waking up to the alarm that had been set.
The ferry ride was a blur.Kelce’s silver car had been parked in his cousins garage, the four of you getting inside and driving right to your house, all of you going back to sleep in your living room.Poor Rafe didnt even make it onto the couch, falling asleep on your floor. You were all asleep until mid afternoon,Rafe having a slight sunburn on his nose, cheeks and forehead but not so bad that he needed aloe.Kelce was walking like a zombie, making coffees and hot pockets, serving them to you guys. “Shitting hell-you didnt take you vitamins last night.”He cursed, handing you the small fist full and grabbing you a water bottle.
“dammit-we have to redo the whole trip!I forgot to get a slushie in every state.”Topper huffed. “Fuck dammit, bottom!” “Well who’s fault is that?Who’s is it?Not mine” “Maybe you shouldve driven the whole time!” Topper pouted, all of you attacking him at once.
“I made a cool edit though, you wanna see?”Kelce asked you guys, excited as he went into his cameraroll, not waiting for an answer. There were clips of you guys in the car, screaming the lyrics to the Ever After High theme song, the next clip of you and Rafe cuddling on the pull out mattress, weird filters on your faces. The next was Topper trying to get chips out of the vending machine, nearly getting his arm stuck.
“Shut the hell up!Its almost my favorite part!”You shouted, shushing the boys as your favorite part of Rewrite The Stars came up.
“Im going to catch this frog-im gonna do it.”You were determined, squatting over the long grass, staring down. “Shit-I lost it!”You laughed.
Topper tried to balance a sugar cookie on his nose, failing and losing it to the couch. “NO!THAT ONE HAD A SUNFLOWER ON IT!”He cried, searching desperately for it.The camera then moved to you and Rafe laughing then to Kelce,a smile on his face as he glanced down at the phone screen.
It was all funnier than it shoulve been since the theme song to little einsteins was playing the background, the video ending with a video of you and Rafe battling eachother with pool noodles,Topper shouting about fowl hits and how it was ‘illegal in the land of narnia’
“Wow,freaking photographer ass.”Topper chuckled, making Kelce shrugged. “I mean,I learn from the best.”He smiled at you.

Greg Sanders x Reader!
A/N: Hi everyone! Have you ever noticed that there are not enough Greg Sanders fanfiction in the world? I have looked for some for a while, but nothing. Now, stop complaining and let's have fun togheter, this is my first Greg Sanders x Reader! I hope you will like it! Besos!
Couple: Greg Sanders/Female!Reader
Category: Fluff
Content Warning: //
Summary: this is the first time Greg tries to find love with an app. Who knows whohe is gonna meet with a cyber matching?
***
Las Vegas, October 5th 2015
The last month was rough for him. Many things had changed forever. Nick had resigned from the team, Sarah decided to take a break after a big promotion in order to restore her relationship with Grissom, Catherine is back to her position as the leader of the night shift.
Russell is moving on with his life and Finn is gone. Forever. No matter how much his tried to save her life or they prayed for her, she is gone.
Greg is not confortable with big changes. For the first time in forever he is feeling like he is flooting. Dr Robbins said that is normal, in a moment like this one, in which he has escaped the death again, to feel this way.
«Maybe you need a fresh new start.»
Everyone is starting something, whatever. Nick is a boss now, Sarah is happy with her ex husband and former director of the lab. Even Hodges is living the moment, with a new girlfriend.
«He met her on a website», Henry said to Greg during a coffee break.
He laughted, then he used this information against Hodges.
«It isnt a website... I am not dating a russian wife!»
Greg smirked, «No more girls interested in your Visa after the italian one?»
«Shut the fuck up, Sanders. Nowdays is normal using dating app. You should try and stop wasting my time!»
****
He didnt download Tinder only because Hodges suggested it.
Of course.
He decided to try the app only to dimostrate that is a poor life choice.
But the amounth of time he have spent in looking at girls profiles is already too much to look credible. Furthermore, Lindsay have noticed him swapping girls away and she giggled amused. «You should try to go on a date. Dont tell my mom, but I met a guy once, on Tinder. He was really awsome, but he was a tourist. An advice, always take a loool if she is a resident!»
And he followed her suggestion, making the opposite. Just to have some fun.
There are many people who only are in Vegas for having fun and even if was cool, meeting girls who only want a one night stand, after three or four date started to make him feel bored.
He always talk a little about is job, fake interesting in the girl’s plan for her vacation and everything ending in the morning.
So he decided to try something else.
A serious date, for once.
***
He is exploring your profile since the moment you two matched. He is fascinating by your (y/e/c) eyes in the profile picture. You look smart but gentle at the same time. No mention to the fact that even if you are linving in Vegas, you are from (you hometown/nation) and you are a PhD candidate in Archaelogy.
You dont look like the other girls he met in the last period. You are a student, a really good one. You have a picture in front of Columbia University, which you attended for your MSc and graduated.
So you are not only smart, but really intelligent.
You have those beautiful (y/h/c) hair and a gentle smile.
So he picks all his courage and writes you a simple ‘hi’.
You dont answer immediatly, even if you have read the message. So Greg closes the app with disappointed. Well. It’s proved. You cant find love in one of this app.
He decides that is far better to start with the awfull pile of documents on the desk, before is too late. Or to early, depends by the point of view.
***
He had finished with paperwork around 7 am and so he decided to go home.
In the moment he enters the living room, he feels so lonely. It’s happening quite often in the last period. He kicks his shoes away and sits on the sofa, taking a deep breath. With his eyes close, he starts to thing about the last serious date and its look like a century ago.
And it was a complete failure.
Everytime he fell for a girl is always the same old story. Firstly, amazing. Then a mess because of his job.
But he doesn't have to change is life only because he feels the emptiness of his house. He has worked so much to achieve this results and now...
Now? What he has? A good position in an horrible schedule shift. An amazing group of team mates - unfortunately Hodges is still working in the materials lab, but who cares- but no social life. No family. He is 40 now and he was looking for a 25 years girl.
So silly.
So stupid.
But what's is even silliest? Losing himself in those throughs instead of sleep. He has his shift starting at 11 pm, but he has the laudary to do. And he need to clean the apartment. Is full of dust.
****
After seven hours sleeping, he feels himself far more positive. It's around 2 pm when he wakes up and start with the laudary. He gets a look on the phone and answer to Morgan under a pic on facebook, than he notices that he has a new notification on Tinder.
He is so surprise when he realises that is you.
-who wrote 'hi' at 4.30 in the morning?-
He blushes a little, thinking about it. It was really early and he hasnt realised it.
-someone who is working at night...?-
The answer is not the best. But you are smart and you bring a good observation.
-like a hooker?-
He laught a little, rising his elbow.
-sorta. But not so well paid.-
Making fun of the hookers is not a good way to start a conversation, but someway, it works. You two share some messages and then you give your phone number to him.
You are free tomorrow for lunch, even if is unusual meeting someone with the sun in the sky, in Vegas.
And he is totaly down.
***
Is strange for you to go on a date with someone you don't know. But it is even strangest go for a lunch date. It's look so formal to you, but the guy in the profile pic looks potentially awsome. You have read from his description that he works for the Clark Country Police Department and this is a hot detail: you have a thing for cops.
You dressed nicely for the lunch inside The Venice's restaurant. Classy choice by the way. But not elegant because is 12 am. You also decide to go easy on your make up, because after this date you have to help in teaching a bacherlo class and you are hoping that you won't have enough time to change, after the meal.
So here we go.
In front of the restaurant.
You look around and see a figure a couple of meters away from you. He is pretty tall and with dark blonde hair. He is also well dressed, better then you, but not formal.
Your glazes meet in the middle of the atrium and you both smile embarrassed. He is the first one to move some steps near to you.
《Hi. You are (y/n)?》
《Yes. And you must be Greg.》
You shake his hand and then catch his invitation to enter in the restaurant first. The waiter reserved you a nice place on the balcony. The cannel is fake, not even similar to the Italian one, but is romantic.
One score for Greg.
《What would you like to eat?》, he asked so politely that you can't help yourself, but smile back.
《I thing I'll go with a sandwich for lunch》
《Nice choice, I am down. Wine?》
《Sorry, but I have a class in the afternoon...》
This time he is smiling. 《Then water for two.》
He is so kind. He decides to drink water because you can't drink wine. This is another score.
After you two have made your orders, it's time for questions.
《Do you usually meet people this way?》, je asks, nicely. Even if there is no accusation in the tune of his voice, you blush a little.
《It's not the first time, but I am still a skeptical, by the way.》
《Why?》
《Because I've met only morons on Tinder. 》 You try your best smile. 《Hope you are not one of them.》
《I share this hope with you》, he jokes. 《I am looking for your verdict at the end of the meal, so.》
You both laught. Is a nice company and the tension is going away.
《So you are a cop?》
《Not exactly. I work for the crime like as a crime scene investigator.》
You looked impressed. 《Sounds amazing but hard at the same time. I am asking to my self you an awsome guy like you is still single.... is for your job?》
This time is Greg the one who blushes. 《Yes is really... It takes most of my time. Someday all of my time.》
《I can relate》, you say. 《I am not cool as you are, I don't save people for live, neither I am good in puzzle but... I work on field so I spend several weeks abroad. Sometimes even a month or two and when I come back...》
《...You have the feeling that everyone is carries on with his life but you are static he ends your statement. 《Yes, you can relate, totaly.》
You two share a smile and then he starts to ask you some questiom about your job, your position at the UNLV and stuffs.
In the end, after a sweet fight, he insists to pay the meal, but you put on the table the tips.
《It was really nice 》, you say and he agrees. 《We should do that again. What's your spare night?》
《Monday》 he aswers, immediately 《If my boss wont tell me otherwise.》
《If you are agree, you can see eachother again on Monday, so.》
《It will be amazing.》
Another smile and a little silence. You have no idea of what to do now. Is too soon for a kiss, but an hand shake would be awful. So you decide to come closer to him and kiss his cheek. Is so cute the way he blushes again. Greg is near now and you can feel his breath on your lips. For him, is not too soon. He gently puts a hands on you hip and drag you into a soft kiss.
The best way to end a good date.
****
《So how is she?》
After two weeks dating, Greg decides to tell the guys about you.
Terrible idea.
《She is so nice!》 He starts excited, while Catherine is laught, shaking is head and look at David Philips in the classical 'told ya' way. 《She is beautiful and gentle. She is also tremendously determinate. More than anything, she is so intelligent and her smell is amazing.》
《She can cook?》, Super Dave asks, joking.
《Everything you can say, she can do it. Is incredible. She speaks like five languages and is so sexy in bed.》
《This information is not necessary 》 is Catherine's comment.
But Dave wants to prove a point now. 《....She speaks five languages in bed or it was not correlated?》
《Guys, we are on a crime scene.》
The two boys share a small smile and wait for Russell to be far enough. So Dave asks one last question. 《Are you only fancy her... or maybe you are already in love?》
Greg thinks about it for a couple of second. 《I am already fucked.》
Dave laughs, 《of couse you are.》

4. Which one of your OTP is more likely to eat and drink things from excesivly expensive mini-bar in their room and then panic, when they see the bill?

6. Which one of your OTP is more likely to ignore hotel's statute and set off the fire alarm by some unfortunate series of small disasters, that they could easily avoid, if only they had brain cells (or there was their significant other to forbid them from doing stupid things)? 7. Who is more likely to start feeling in their hotel room a little bit too much like in their own home, forget to put "please don't disturb sign" on the door and get walked in by cleaning lady, while they were running around naked? How do they react? How do their significant other react?
8. Who is more likely to lock themselve out of their room, because they forgot to take their key card?
9. Who puts themselve in a very awkward situation involving a foreign hotel's client, whose language they dont speak? Who puts themselves in a drunk argument with a foreign person, fighting over politics, even tho they dont even speak the same language? How do they escape both of those situations?
10. Who tries to sneak their pet in, even tho it's a hotel that does not allow any pets?
11. How each of them reacts upon hearing fellow hotel residents having sex in room just next to your OTP's room? Do they go to ask them to keep it quiet, hit the wall and scream, get embarrassed... Or treat it like a challenge to do the same thing... But louder
12. How do they deal with situation, when they stay in a hotel in foreign country, with no internet connection (so no translator) and no one of the staff speaks english (or whatever language your OTP speaks).
13. Who goes actually deals with checking in, and who just sits in their suitcases and looks cute?
14. Who takes home all the little shampoo bottles? What else they decided to take, a souvenir?
15. Who is more likely to go to the hotel sauna just in a towel (JUST a towel) and which one is too embarrassed to go out in a swim suit?
16. Who freaks out when finding any form of life in their hotel room (snake, spider, crab) and who just shrugs their shoulders and accepts it as part of their room's equipment?
17. Who is more likely to book and pay for a hotel online, in advance, just to find out when they arrive, that they have been tricked and their hotel doesn't exist?
18. Who eats traditional food of the country they stay in and then gets very sick? And who warned them?
19. Would they be ok with typical tourist look? Or would they try to look more like the locals? Would they visit typical tourist attractions, or try to find some more unique places?
20. Who is more likely to forget their room's number and desperately go around and knock to random people?

MY LIFE AS A SENIOR HIGH STUDENT
by : Lalyn De Torres
Students face many challenges with school, relationship, work and social interactions. Hi! my name is Lalyn, 17 years old from laguna and I'am a senior at Francisco P. Tolentino Integrated High School. Let me tell you that being a student is not always easy. We really dont know what is stress is and we are just wait it until we grow up. But we as teenage students have our own levels of stress. All school activities is telling us to uphold our grade point average to yhe high standards, we dedicate any time to it day and night. Many students in their highschool years start their job, have to attend school in the morning, followed by responsibilities needing to be taken care at home.
High school is a place where students like me are made fun inside the school. we experience lot of things inside and outside of the school. Each of us knoes how to accept these challenges, and just like this challenges, i choose faith.
I am now Grade 12 student. I have lots of memories to keep with my beloved classmate and also our beautiful teacher. I knew that being a senior high student is not easy i taught that it is just for fun with easy activities but i was wrong. We, the students will give our own grade so we have to take focus and pass all the projects that the teacher give to us because we are graduating student we have goal that our batch will march on our graduation day.
My mom always tells me to enjoy it while i'am with my classmates. I know that the world outside of school is often harsh and that the responsibilities are serious. That’s exactly why I know that the focus I give to my future is essential in helping me navigate my way into a career that will allow me to contribute to society and enjoy who and what I become.
I want to remind everyone, including myself, that in this moment, we are as old as we have ever been, and as young as we will be again. Live in the moment! So that’s what I am trying to do learning as I go, wearing faith as my armor and knowing that in God’s plan we are all students and teachers, too.

About half the calories in our diet should come from foods rich in carbohydrates, such as cereals, rice, pasta, potatoes, and bread. It is a good idea to include at least one of these at every meal. Wholegrain foods, like wholegrain bread, pasta, and cereals, will increase our fibre intake.

Fats are important for good health and proper functioning of the body. However, too much of it can negatively affect our weight and cardiovascular health.
4. Eating fruits and vegetable everyday
Fruit and vegetables are considered to be a key part of your daily diet. These have vitamins and minerals which can help keep you healthy. They are naturally good. They can also lead to defense from certain diseases. Eating more fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy, nutritious, balanced and daily diet. The food is a healthy part of the vegetables and fruits, and a healthy diet has as essential a variety as quantity. Any single fruit or vegetables provides the nutrients that you want to be healthy. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber that helps fill up your digestive system and keeps you healthy. Fruit and vegetables are filled with essential vitamins, minerals, fibers and the fight against diseases. Good nutrition, combined with physical activity, will help you achieve and maintain healthy weight, reducing the risk of chronic illnesses like heart and cancer and improving the health overall. A high salt intake can result in high blood pressure, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
6. Eat regularly
Eating a variety of foods, regularly, and in the right amounts is the best formula for a healthy diet.
7. Always drink water
Water is a natural gift offered to us by god. Drinking water regularly on a daily basis is the best way we can offer to our bodies. Some of us drink it when we are thirsty and some of us drink it when we are completely hydrated. Drinking water can be sure to help our skins healthier, more relaxed and more radiant. Our skins need lots of water to keep ourselves hydrated. So we need to ensure every day we drink enough water. In order to keep our skins healthy, we need to drink water about 8-10 glasses a day. Water is also can lose our weight. There is a suggestion that we should drink a lot of water when we are in a diet or exercise plan. Therefore, drinking water allows our bodies to remove the fat in their bodies and thus reduces our weight. We can be healthier by reducing our fat in our bodies, because some of the diseases caused by obesity will be avoided. When we're properly hydrated, circulation in our body will be good. Water will help us remain alert and focused. Therefore, to support our minds, we must stay hydrated. It keeps the mood healthy and active, if our minds are hydrated properly. People with lower drinks water sometimes feel bored. In the meantime, people who drink more water are very active. It also allows our bodies to reduce their body tiredness. Drinking water is a very important part for the health of our bodies. Not only human but all the species need water in order to survive.
8. Maintain a healthy body weight
The right weight for each us depends on factors like our gender, height, age, and genes. Being affected by obesity and overweight increases the risks of a wide range of diseases, including diabetes, heart diseases, and cancer.
9. Exercise everyday
Physical activity is important for people of all weight ranges and health conditions. It helps us burn off the extra calories, it is good for the heart and circulatory system, it maintains or increases our muscle mass, it helps us focus, and improves overall health well-being.
10. And Timer Start now!
Changes in our lifestyle are easier to maintain than major changes introduced all at once. For three days, we could write down the foods and drinks we consume throughout the day, and make a note of the amount of movement we made.

Hey Zhenya, recently you advised that in order to speak russian, one has to make attempts to speak and write even if it's not perfected it yet. I think thats generally true but as am pretty much studiyng on my own and not in academic field or school. There's not much of a place i can speak it or write in it, except for the tourists in the summer, but i dont think thats working for me really. However I didnt want to bother u in fact yr blog is fascinating and veryhelpful up til now and U r great
Hi, dear Anonymous,
You are not alone. Many people learn languages that are not spoken in their country, and it is not very likely to them to bump into a native speaker and practice. As about writing ... It takes some motivation and creativity to start writing to literally nobody for the sake of language practice.
When I started learning English at school, many years ago, there still was the Iron curtain between the Soviet Union and the Western world. Rusted all throughout, but still the Iron Curtain. I would never believe if anyone ever told me, a Siberian girl, that not only I would meet a native English speaker in person, but would live among them one day. English didn’t have any practical meaning back then, but my curiosity and insatiable thirst for languages helped me to see even slightest opportunities for practicing English and other languages. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Here you may find a few practical tips on how to start writing on a target language.
And here I wrote an article about how to build your own language environment so that the fact that nobody speaks the language you’re learning near you wouldn’t be a problem anymore.
Thanks again for your kind words - and the best of luck!

A neurodivergent guide to traveling to Japan
Idk how many people will benefit from this, and I guess some of my tips will help neurotypicals as well, but its 1 am and I camt sleep so here we go. (In no particular order)
Don’t take the hotel soaps with you. In America, this is perfectly fine. They have to throw them away after each person. But in Japan (at least in the hotels I’ve stayed in), they reuse the shampoos and such. You might notice that its a normal size bottle, and has some missing. That’s because they sanitize the outside of the container and leave it for the next guest until it gets used up. There are a few things like toothbrushes, hair ties, and small packages of shaving cream that are more one use that you can take with you, especially if you’ve opened them. Those they have to throw away.
Japanese thermostats are in Celcius, so if you’re American like me they can be tricky to figure out what temperature it is inside. Google can be very helpful here and has an online converter. Some thermostats have a button to change from Celcius to Fahrenheit as well.
To board the airplane early (if you have an invisible disability and have problems with boarding like me), line up with the wheelchairs and people with small children. In America you can explain in more detail and the Tsa will ptobably ask, but in Japan (and Taiwan for that matter, I had a layover flight there), just say “Special needs” and they let you go right ahead.
Speaking of tsa, their website has a customizeable card you can print out and show at security that tells them what your disability is so they can help you get through security smoothly. Mine says I’m autistic, and my dad has one that says he has an artificial hip replacement.
Weighted blankets have to go through additional screening if they are carried in your carryon. For me this meant that it was removed from my bag and the tsa worker felt each of the pockets to make sure there’s nothing hiding in them. The worker was very respectful and did it in front of me, explaining what he was doing as he went along. He let me fold it and put it back in my bag. I’m not sure how Japan does this, since I transferred it to my checked bag after the overnight flight. Ill update when I go home and go through security again.
If you take prescription medication, check a few months in advance if youre allowed to bring it into the country. Some medications are required to be sent to Japan two months in advance for screening (like prescription painkillers). I take Zoloft and it was not required to go through this process, or be declared at customs. Just make sure you keep it on your body during the entire airplane process. Don’t ever put your meds in your checked bag, in case it gets lost.
Google translate app is you best friend. You can take a picture of anything and it will translate it for you, and if you’re having trouble communicating then you can talk or type into the app and it will translate to Japanese and vice versa. Its very fast and easy, and I used it at the angelic pretty store to ask where the changing room was. The employee spoke into the app and it translated for me, so the language barrier was nearly invisible.
Hotel water is mostly drinkable. Sometimes there is a sign, if theres only one sink. But if there is multiple sinks drink from the one that has the tea making supplies next to it. Thats the kitchen sink and potable.
Walk on the left side of the sidewalk and staircases. In Japan they drive on the left side of the road, and walk on the left side of the path as well.
Dont jaywalk. Ever. Only cross the street at marked crosswalks or pedestrian bridges.
If you’re having trouble finding your way, ask a bus driver. They know the city very well and speak English relatively fluently. Don’t stop random people to ask for directions, that’s weird and rude and they might not speak English.
If you have personal space issues, I would recommend getting a taxi or uber as opposed to riding train and busses. Depending on where youre going and the time of day, the latter can be packed like sardines. Taxi/uber are more expensive, but if this is a serious problem for you then definately make room in your budget for this.
Speaking of crowds, if you’re overwhelmed and need to get out of a crowd quickly shout “sumimasen” repeatedly while walking to your destination (I recommend a bathroom). That word means excuse me, and people will understand that you need to get somewhere quickly.
All Japanese coins are marked with the value except for the little bronze one with a hole in the center. Its worth 5 yen.
If you use a mobility aid, you might feel daunted by the amount of stairs everywhere. However, for every staircase there is an elevator, and sometimes an escalator as well. They are typically marked on the walls, but if you can’t find one ask someone who works at the place you’re at. Some crosswalks are the kind that go up and over traffic, but there is a traffic guard underneath who will stop cars and help you cross. I havent tried this for myself, but for my dad who had his hip replaced and has problems on stairs still.
When in doubt, find and information desk.
7-11 has the best atm machines. This might feel really weird, but 7-11 in Japan is much better then America. Its more like a tiny Wal-Mart.
Spaghetti in Japan doesn’t take like spaghetti. It tastes more like offbrand kraft macaroni and cheese with a slight hint of tomato. Its good, but not what spaghetti is expected to taste like.
French fries are often lightly or unsalted. You might want to ask for salt.
The trains are color coded. If you can’t find your line check on a map in the station what color it is and then follow that color.
If there is a raised step in a room, take off your shoes before going through. Slippers are often provided as well so you’re not barefoot or in your socks.
If you go to a cat cafe and talk about your own cat, you might be asked to show pictures to the staff.
Lots of shops have a ban on taking pictures. If you are unsure, ask an employee. “Camera ok?” Is understood and they will answer yes or no. If you can’t find anyone to ask, just don’t take the picture. Its not worth the risk of getting thrown out.
English swear words are common. So is sexual themes. I passed a condom vending machine walking down a main street. If this bothers you, try to ignore it. Honestly theres no avoiding it.
Most plaves have free wifi, but.renting a pocket Wi-Fi is cheap and then you always have a secure connection.
If you’re having trouble ordering food, a lot of places have the menu on the counter with pictures. Point at what you want. This isn’t rude like it would be in America.
Lots of restaurants have fake food in cases outside. I can nearly guarantee you that what you will be served looks exactly like the representation. I’m surprised every time, having grown up with the American standard of “it looks like its been sat on and ran through a washing machine”.
If a store has multiple levels, a good rule of thumb is to pay at each level.
Most stores have a sign that says “Japan tax free”. To get this, you have to show your passport when you check out. Keep your receipt because tsa might ask for it.
A lot of stores only allow tax free on purchases over 5400 yen, or about $54.
Japan tax is 8%
Wall outlets dont have the classic pig nose input. They only have the two vertical lines. Make sure your charger will work with them, or bring an adaptor.
A lot of places have usb chargers built into the wall next to the outlet.
When paying for something, put the money in the little tray on the counter. Never hand it directly to the employee. They might put you change in the same tray or hand it back to you on your receipt, it varies by shop.
100 yen is about equal to $1. It fluctuates but this is a good rule of thumb.
Dont litter. Its a huge fine and possible jail time. Hold on to your trash until you find a trash can. Most convenience stores and vending machines have one.
Thats all I can think of at the moment, feel free to send asks If you have questions. This is by no means a complete guide, just the ramblings of a very sleepy tourist.

Best places to eat and drink in Japan: readers travel tips

Best places to eat and drink in Japan: readers travel tips
It might not be hard to find great sushi in Tokyo, or a gem of a saki bar, but where would you go for the best okonomiyaki pancakes, takoyaki octopus balls, gold ice-cream or udon noodles?
Winning tip: Takoyaki, Nishiki Market, Kyoto
Ive eaten the most rarefied meals of my life in Japan, but its hard to beat the charms of a 2 portion of takoyaki fluffy balls of eggy batter studded with boiled octopus, ginger and spring onion in a polystyrene tray. These are anointed with takoyaki sauce (Japans answer to HP) and mayonnaise, then sprinkled with dried pink bonito (skipjack tuna) flakes, which writhe in the heat emanating from the molten core. You spear each ball with a notched cocktail stick and nibble while trying to avoid singing your lips. Its like eating mouthfuls of octopus-flavoured cloud. Osaka invented them, but you can find them pretty much everywhere in Japan. Among the best are the ones served in Kyotos Nishiki Market, where you buy a ticket from a vending machine before placing your order with the cook juggling the golden balls. MoragR
Tofu temple, Kyoto
Photograph: Guardian Witness/MoragR
You need a good-luck talisman (and some instructions printed from the internet) to find Shoraian, hidden in the glorious Arashiyama mountains to the west of Kyoto. To reach it I followed the jade waters of the Hozu river, then took a steep path into the forest to a lonely hillside clearing with a wooden house, which seems to belong in a fairytale. Shoraians fame rests on its tofu-based menu. It sounds ascetic, but this is Japan, where simplicity means invention and elegance. All its tofu is made in-house, which results in something completely unlike the stuff packaged in supermarkets. We ate in a room overlooking the river and shaded by rustling trees. We chose the cheapest of the set menus, at around 25 per head (lunch is always a more affordable option than dinner in Japan). The meal starts with homemade plum wine served with a scoop of tofu as creamy as burrata, served with a pinch of salt. Vegetarian delicacies follow, an artwork on a plate. Then a bowl called sunrise, served with a calligraphy poem, based on a preserved egg as bright as a pocket-sized sun. Then comes yudofu (tofu hot-pot) blocks of tofu simmered in tasty broth. Dessert is tofu ice-cream nutty, toffee-ish and textured. I will never eat a more magical meal. Ukyo-ku, Kyoto-shi, +81 75 861 0123, shoraian.com MoragR
Sushi Tokami, Ginza, Tokyo
Hiroyuki Sato preparing sushi at Tokami. Photograph: Guardian Witness/pfrosty
Ginza is where the best sushi places in Tokyo are found and must be among the best in the world. Sushi Tokami is my pick of the lot, run by Michelin-starred Hiroyuki Sato, one of the young guns of the sushi scene, who loves a joke and is happy to chat and explain while making exquisitely flawless nigiri. The place is a tiny basement affair with 10 seats in total but when you also learn that Tokami means 10 gods then you realise this restaurant is a small but beautiful offering to the world of sushi. Jumanji 55, Roppongi, Tokyo
Photograph: Facebook
You dont get much better than Roppongi for a fun cheap night out in Tokyo. For just 6 you can drink as much as you like here for four hours, and the service is fantastic. It has everything: bizarre interior design, a fine selection of western and Asian music and a real buzz. It also has a great selection of traditional snacks. 3-10-5 Mariner building 1F, +81 3 5410-5455, jumanji55.com Natasha Alexa Searle
Bar Track, Ebisu, Tokyo
Ebisu is known for its izakayas (informal bar and eating joints) and as a cool spot away from the crowds of Shinjuku and Shibuya. A simple sign saying Bar on a nondescript building leads to a warm and hushed interior. Theres a huge selection of rare Japanese and Scotch whiskies and US bourbons. The bartenders play old jazz and blues records from a collection of thousands through vintage wooden speakers. There are simple bar snacks to keep you going banana chips, wasabi peas and rice crackers.

Kushiya monogatari, Shinjuku, Tokyo
Photograph: Getty Images/Flickr Open
This is a brilliant restaurant in the Shinjuku area offering a range of tabehodai and nomihodai (all you can eat/drink) options. It specialises in kushiage various meats, veg and fish on skewers. Each table has a small fryer in the middle, you pick out the skewers you want and batter/fry them yourself at your table. The best thing is you can have as much as you want in 90 minutes for about 2,500 (15.50) including drinks. I have eaten in many different types of restaurant in Japan but this definitely ranks at the top of my list. Not only is the food excellent but it is a fun and unique dining experience and great value for money. 1-3-1 Nishi-Shinjuku, 5th fl, Sunflower Bldg, +81 3 5321 6166, sunnypages.jp Roy Searle
Sushibar Hamacho, Nozawa Onsen
Photograph: Alamy
Nozawa Onsen is a great little ski resort, still very traditional. Its tiny streets have a great selection of eating places. My favourite was Sushibar Hamacho, a one-room place with seating at the bar or on the floor of a raised, matted platform. The place is usually busy with seemingly random opening hours. But the fresh, plump salmon and tuna are beautifully presented and of perfect quality, taste and texture. Four of us shared the platter and then polished off another one. Most meals cost around 9. 9519 Toyosato Nozawaonsen-Mura, +81 2 6985 2591 buryboy
Hida beef and sake in Takayama
Photograph: Getty Images/AWL Images RM
Kill two culinary birds with one stone with a visit to Takayama, a historic town in the mountains 200 miles west of Tokyo, famous for both its hida beef and sake. Once youve explored the numerous shrines and temples sprinkled around the surrounding hillsides, keep an eye out for the distinctive balls of cedar hanging from a building which signify a sake brewery; where the cedar ball has turned brown it means the sake is ready to drink. Several of the breweries offer tastings, and tasting cloudy sake is definitely an experience. In the evening, head to a specialist hida beef restaurant, such as Maruaki, to experience the best steak youll taste in your life. 6 Chome-8 Tenmanmachi, +81 577-35-5858, hidagyu-maruaki.co.jp cr7364
Noodles at Gamou-Udon, Shikoku island
Photograph: Alamy
For the true udon experience, go to Kagawa prefecture on Shikoku island. The signature foods here are soup and the al dente udon noodles. Gamou-Udon sits in the middle of farmland, dedicated to serving mainly udon and soba (thin buckwheat noodles) available only during its season from Nov-Apr. The menu is simple: small, medium or large noodles and you can add your own toppings (selection of tempura, fried bean curd and poached egg). I recommend to stay within three toppings to actually enjoy the noodles. This small hut that seats about 15 people gets very busy. People come, slurp the noodles and leave. Locals as well as Japanese tourists queue up during lunch hour. If you go too late, they will run out for the day so go early. It doesnt do dinner. Best udon Ive ever had (Im Japanese). 762-0023 Kagawa-ken, Sakaide-shi Alvin K Shimoju
Somen noodles, Shodoshima island
The small island of Shodoshima off Okoyama often gets overlooked by visitors to the Seto inland sea who favour its nearby arty, even smaller, neighbour Naoshima. Shodoshima, however, is a food paradise, from roadsides lined with olive groves, to the smell of sesame oil wafting through the air; food is central to life here. Highlights for visitors include Yamaroku, a small family soy sauce producer who estimates the age of its business through the ancient barrels its soy sauce ferments in. It is free to visit and you can climb up and look into the dark vats as well as sample a delightful spectrum of soy sauce products. Around the corner you will also find Nakabuan, a local somen noodle-maker where you can watch the thin wheat-flour noodles being hand-rolled, while eating the one dish on the menu, a bowl of fresh somen with dipping sauce. Gold ice-cream, Kanazawa
Photograph: Guardian Witness/Claire Mason
The opportunity to indulge in a golden ice-cream is rare; but not here in Kanazawa. The city was spared from bombing during the second world war and has managed to retain its historic districts and charm. It produces almost all of Japans gold leaf, and there must be a surplus because its even used as an ice cream topping. You can buy the creamy, gold ice-cream from various stands in the historic parts of town. Claire Mason
Okonomiyaki pancakes, Hiroshima
Photograph: Getty Images/AWL Images RM
Street food has been mainstream in Japan for a while now, with variations on savoury pancakes in the 20 or so eateries in Hiroshimas Okonomiyaki building a classic example. Combining whatever ingredients you want fried up with fish stock and cabbage pancake mix is an unpretentious meal, eaten off up-turned beer crates while sat around the hot plate. The snack is highly visual, with a pizza-size lattice of mayonnaise and tangy sauce mingling with oscillating tuna flakes sizzling away. Yours for 7. Tayls79

Paris Day 3: Pro-tip if you wanna see the catacombs book that like 3 months in advance and show up at like 9 am
This morning we woke up around 9 again and walked outside and found a flea market which was pretty cool since we couldn’t go to the one on Saturday. There was nothing very cool there though but we didn’t linger long at any tables since the sales folks get pretty pushy if show any interest and it was mostly yardsale garbage. We walked a little bit looking for a cafe for breakfast and the first place we looked at had coffee for 10 euro so we peaced out of there real fast and went across the street to le lithographie which actually looked pretty fancy but was a little more reasonable. I ended up getting a mint tea and croissant and ariel got a fruit salad and coffee. This croissant was the best bread i’ve ever eaten i’ll never be able to eat the crescent rolls mom buys again and my tea came with a little kettle full of hot water and it was adorable. We got a seat outside again but under the awning so we could get the sun off of us since it was already getting pretty hot. It was so nice to sip tea outside so early in the morning and just watch everyone around us. Our waiter was really nice and spoke english and laughed when we still said “oui” instead of yes. There was also an old woman getting her hair and makeup done at the table right next to us?? like she had a makeup artist/hairstylist putting her hair in a french twist with hairspray and everything and was taking up tables with the cosmetics all spread out. It was odd but at the same time i strive to be that woman.
We walked on to find the catacombs and walked past the montparnarsse cemetery and it was gorgeous. We walked inside for a little bit just to see the little tombstone/house things. All the graves were beautiful but we didn’t stay long since our feet were still sore from Saturday’s excursion so we walked on to the catacombs. We could see two different spots where crowds were fro the catacombs so we walked to where there were signs and asked the man where we could buy tickets and at first he asked for our tickets an we said no where do we buy them and he said “the internet is closed” and we could buy them there so we walked away confused and listened for english from the people in line and asked a random family and tehy said you have to wait in line then buy tickets so were like oh okay cool and walk on to find the end of the line. and then we turn a corner and are still looking for the end of the line and then we turn another corner still no end. until finally we end up at the original crowd we saw. This line wrapped around a whole garden area and building. We decided since it was somethign we were both really looking forward too we would wait we figured it would be 2 hours. The line grew pretty fast behind us so at least we weren’t those people. Then it had been an hour and we hadn’t turned the corner yet but we’d already invested one hour. Then it had been 2 hours and we said okay were too invested to quit but maybe we should and by this point we were out of the shade and in the 90 degree sun and my feet were on fire. Then it had been 2.5 hours and we started talking to the family in front of us and they said maybe another hour so we decided to keep waiting and we heard people behind us say it could take 6 hours some days and some parisians said the line was always this long and that it’s always just tourists. We started talking to the people around us though and the guy in front of us was from Colorado and was getting ready to start college. Him and his parents had rented a car and were driving around europe after a wedding for ~two weeks and were leaving for home the next day. We also started talking to the group in front of them who were a bunch of study abroad students that had just happened to meet in a hostile that weekend. ONe girl was from the same town in Utah that Ariel’s family lives and it was crazy. This town is so small and they didn’t recognize anybody either of them knew but it was still pretty cool. There were two other students from Japan also just traveling. I kept on talking to the colorado guy and he was pretty cool. His parents took it as an excuse to leave him holding the spot in line so they could get out of the sun. we ended up being in line a total of 4 hours and the last 2 hours we spent talking to strangers and it was really cool and honestly made it worth it. We all cheered when we finally got to the front of teh line and took selfies and ended up talking while walking through the catacombs too. We got to the catacombs half hour after they opened at 10:30 and didn’t get in until after 2:30. lesson learned there
The catacombs themselves were really cool and it felt soooooo nice to get out of the sun. Some of the bones were growing moss from the lights and some were sparkly and its so strange to think all those skulls had faces and all those faces had lives and stories and names. There were an estimated 2 million parisians in there moved from teh old cemeteries. I ended up buying a patch from the giftshop and its probs my favorite souvenir so far. I wish my feet hadn’t hurt so bad or we’d have walked a little slower through the tunnels but honestly wanted to cry they hurt so bad. Also added that guy on fb and he talked to me for a couple days afterward over messenger. He’s definitely enjoyable to talk to but it’s a bit strange since he’s only just graduated high school and lives in colorado so i dont know what the intentions were there but whatevs.
After the tunnels we started looking for bubble tea. We wanted to try it the day before but we only saw it after we had just eaten so we didn’t want to buy any, but boy were we thirsty after standing in the sun for 4 hours again in 90 degree weather. We walked awhile and ariel had a picture of a map pulled up so we were trying to find it, i couldn’t find it on the maps app so we were just hoping for the best. We finally found it though and it was like a mirage. The room was air conditioned to boot so we just died a little inside it was so nice. AND TEH TEA was so good, i got peach tea and the bobas were actually good. I expected them to taste like chalk but it was actually like sweet jello and i loved them. I liked it so much i ended up ordering a second one to drink while we walked, this time i got “jade” which had jasmine tea and kiwi, it wasn’t as good but i still enjoyed it. Also this little Bubble T Paris had the best wifi we’ve experienced in all of France.
At this point it was about 4 o’clock so we started looking for somewhere to eat supper, we figured creperies would be our only option and we knew there were some near our hotel so we walked that way and stopped at a small place on the street. The guy serving us was really nice and he understood Ariel’s gluten allergy so we stayed, but the crepes were not great. Kind of gross actually, i got chicken and cheese and it was a no go. We went back to our hotel after that and used the wifi and bathroom while we waited until ~6 to go to our trainstation.
The trainstation was crazy as usual but we found the rolled ice cream stand miraculously and with ease. We have very good luck with directions and finding things this whole trip and rolled ice cream is as good as it looks. I got apricot mint with pralines on top and 10/10 delicieux. We found place to sit and were eating it when i felt eyes on me so i looked to my left and on the bench next to use 2 older men were clearly talking about me or us and i even made eyecontact and the older man who was closer to me maintained eye contact and continued nodding while listening to what the other man was presumably saying about me. I was very uncomfortable and im imaging Taken scenarios. Then they say excuse me, excusez moi and I answer and the younger guy asks where were from because they were discussing my accent and wondered if we were Englisha nd were surprised to hear we were American. Then they asked why we were here and i was like “in Paris??’ like what kind of question is that. I dont remember what i sadi but they asked if we liked it and i said yes and ended the conversation. Then we left and waited on our train.
They waited until the last minute to put the gate on the board but as soon as they did we fast walked for it since we were in car 16. It was a forever walk but we got there we successfully found our train and could just relax for three hours. This train ride felt much longer than when we were going to paris. We could see the releif on sebastien’s face when we got out the train car though. They gave us the morning off from the lab since they had meetings and we were exhausted, which was a huge blessing ‘cause i have never been so groggy in my life. When we got back to the crous the wifi was out and it was around 11:30 so i went ahead and colled home to them i made it back safe, conveniently dad answered so i was able to wish him a happy fathers day and i told him all about paris for awhile. i usually talk to mom so it was strange to talk to dad on the phone that long but it was nice. When Pascal and sebastien saw us the next day after lunch they were like “We couldn’t sleep all weekend! Were in charge of you!” I was so out of it though, i could hardly focus and i jsut felt so strange. I had slept 11 hours and taken a benadryl to help get to sleep that night so that could be why or it actually was a result of walking 26 miles in one weekend and standing in the sun for 4 hours in addition to that. My feet hurt until Wednesday.

MoragR

Ginza is where the best sushi places in Tokyo are found and must be among the best in the world. Sushi Tokami is my pick of the lot, run by Michelin-starred Hiroyuki Sato, one of the young guns of the sushi scene, who loves a joke and is happy to chat and explain while making exquisitely flawless nigiri. The place is a tiny basement affair with 10 seats in total but when you also learn that Tokami means 10 gods then you realise this restaurant is a small but beautiful offering to the world of sushi. Jumanji 55, Roppongi, Tokyo

Tayls79
